Thirty Montana breweries unite to fight hunger across the state
Hops Against Hunger is a statewide collaborative effort including thirty Montana breweries who are giving back to their communities and raising funds to fight hunger across Montana in the 2nd annual statewide pint night week.
Starting December 3rd, select breweries across 21 communities have reserved one night during the week to donate a portion of their proceeds to the Montana Food Bank Network to help provide meals for seniors, children, veterans and families in Montana struggling to make ends meet.
Participating communities include; Anaconda, Big Fork, Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Columbia Falls, Cut Bank, Great Falls, Hamilton, Havre, Helena, Kalispell, Lakeside, Lolo, Libby, Missoula, Philipsburg, Red Lodge, Stevensville, Whitefish, and White Sulphur Springs. A full list of breweries and dates can be found at mfbn.org
The weeklong event, put together by the Montana Food Bank Network, is the only of it’s kind in the state. The Network hopes to raise enough funds to help support the increase in the amount of food distributed throughout the year. For every $1 raised during the week, the Network can purchase the same amount of food that would cost $5 in a grocery store. That food is then distributed to 140 community food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and other local community programs in 39 counties across Montana.
The Montana Food Bank Network is encouraging all craft beer drinkers in Montana to get involved this week and to help provide some food for our neighbors and families that would otherwise go without.
The Montana Food Bank Network is a 501(c)3 Non-profit whose mission is to end hunger in Montana through food acquisition and distribution, education and advocacy. MFBN has been feeding Montana since 1983. Our vision is a Montana free from hunger where everyone has equal access to nutritious food. The Montana Food Bank Network houses several programs specifically to address the unique challenges of accessing food in Montana. We partner with 140 hunger-fighting organizations throughout the state to improve food access and collaborate to address hunger in Montana and its root causes.
